MISTLEY'S cricketers celebrated an important victory in their Tendring derby at Frinton.

They won by seven wickets, in the Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship division one contest at Ashlyns Road.

The hosts batted first and made 158 for eight, before the Swans reached their target for the loss of just three wickets to take 19 points.

South African Jarryd Walsh scored 73 not out and James Scott 53.

Jermaine Shillingford scored 40 and Joe Fowler 36 for Frinton, but Phil Palmer took three for 42 for Daniel Goff's side.

Mistley, who are seventh in the table, host high-flying Witham tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the club's second team also won by seven wickets, in their division three contest at home to Brockley.

They had few problems in responding to the visitors' all-out score of 159.

Mistley twos are third from bottom in the table but will be hoping to build on their success when they visit Copdock tomorrow.

Elsewhere, Harwich and Dovercourt are still top of division five after another success, this time by one wicket at home to Nowton.

Nowton batted first and made 211 for eight, before Sam Felgate's side scrapped home by making 214 for nine, to pocket 19 points.

Steve Bushell took four for 46 in his 14 overs, while opener Felgate top-scored with 48.

Harwich, who head to Witham twos tomorrow, are five points clear at the top of the table and have won 10 of their 14 matches.
