MISTLEY'S cricketers suffered frustration after wet weather put paid to their Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship division one contest at Coggeshall.

The Swans, who were in a good position, won the toss and batted first, scoring 266 for five in the match at Harefield.

Coggeshall were then 93 for four before rain stopped play soon after 5pm.

The match did not resume and had to be abandoned.

Mistley’s batting had got off to another good start, reaching 47 when Graeme Butcher was run out for 18.

Jarryd Walsh went on to score 98 before being out, caught behind the wicket.

He was in good form on a batting surface that suited him and he deserved to reach his century.

Captain Daniel Goff scored 46 and added 100 runs in partnership with Walsh.

A further 87-run partnership between Adrian Stockton (43 not out) and Stuart Dove (42) added useful runs later in the innings.

In the field, Timothy Scott got the first wicket, caught behind by Butcher.

The match changed dramatically when Goff brought himself on to bowl and took three wickets in his first over - leg before wicket, caught behind and bowled.

With two of these in consecutive deliveries, he had a chance of a hat-trick.
