FC CLACTON continued their revival with a 2-0 success at home to Haverhill Rovers.

The Seasiders are now unbeaten in four matches – winning three and drawing one – and today’s victory came courtesy of goals from Kevin Coyle and Adam Daniels.

They came in either half of an entertaining Thurlow Nunn League premier division contest at the Rush Green Bowl.

Both sides had chances in the first period but the key moment came in the opening ten minutes, following a brilliant opening goal from Coyle.

The midfielder unleashed a rising effort that flew into the roof of the net.

The goal sandwiched near misses at the other end.

First, Danny Hill went on a mazy run into the area but dragged a low effort wide of the left-hand post.

Joe Moore was then forced into a timely clearance just in front of the line, after Luke Haines capitalised on a weak back-pass and judged the ball past keeper Paddi Hawkins.

Louie Newland nearly made it two – only to see his powerful shot from inside the box tipped over by Tim Jefferies, after great work from Matt Stace.

From the ensuing corner, Newland hooked the ball onto the roof of the net with his back to goal.

Both sides had two more chances each in the first half.

Michael Brothers brought the ball down and tried his luck with a drive that was gathered at the second attempt by Jefferies.

Coyle then unleashed a volley from wide on the left that was turned behind at the near post.

At the other end, Hawkins made two excellent saves – first denying the dangerous Hill and then making a point-blank stop after the ball deflected into Rory Jebb’s path.

Clacton were forced to soak up some pressure midway through the second half but made the points safe thanks to a vital second goal from Daniels.

Stace delivered a cross from deep on the right and the centre-half rose highest to net with a well-placed header.
