MANNINGTREE High School is set to take part in a national campaign called Tennis for Kids. The scheme has been designed by the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), to increase participation in tennis.
The LTA have invested £1 million into the project and set a target to get 20,000 new youngsters playing tennis.
The project had been supported by a number of high-profile people in British tennis, including Davis Cup captain Leon Smith, Greg Rusedski and Paralympic silver medalist and Wimbledon wheelchair doubles winner Alfie Hewett.
Coach Matthew Watson will be running a free six-week course at Manningtree for children aged five to eight.
The course is designed for children that have never played tennis before.
Children that attend the whole six-week course will receive a free racket to encourage them to continue playing the sport.
There are only ten spaces available.
Watson is excited about running the course and wants to give something back to the local community and encourage more players to take up the sport.
The course starts on Saturday, April 22 from 10.30am until 11.30am.
