HARWICH Boxing Club's Pat Allen Cripps won the Essex ABA light heavyweight title at Chelmsford.

Standing in his way and the next round of the annual senior championships was Halstead ABC's Jason Bradley.

Boxing over the three, three-minute round distance, Allen Cripps didn't have everything his own way as he faced a determined foe.

In the end, though, the 19-year-old's pressure tactics - constantly switching attacks to head and body - was enough to secure a unanimous points win and the Essex title.

Allen Cripps now faces former opponent Gianni Antoh, from Trumpington ABC, for the Eastern Counties title in Harlow on Sunday.

He comprehensively defeated the Italian national 11 months ago but cannot be complacent as Antoh has improved significantly since their first meeting.
