ELATED Little Oakley chairman Michael Good believes his title-winning players are ready and prepared for “new, exciting challenges” ahead.

The Acorns wrapped up the Essex and Suffolk Border League title on Saturday following a 2-0 victory at Hatfield Peverel.

They will now be playing step six football - in Thurlow Nunn League division one - when the next season kicks off in August.

Good admits it is a “major step into the unknown” for his talented players, having never tested themselves at that level before.

However, he is sure they are ready and will embrace the challenge.

“The whole club is excited about moving into the Thurlow Nunn League,” said Good.

“We have a clear model and strategy that will continue to be used by the club at the higher level.

“Our aim is always to be competitive and we believe our structure will allow us to be competitive at the higher league.

“It’s a major step into the unknown for the players but we and they are ready for the challenge.

“(Manager) Sean (Tynan) has been exceptional this season and driven the club to a new level.

“He’s improved all the players both physically and mentally and, together with Paul Sadler and Gary Kioussis, has driven the team to win the league based on the club’s family values.

“Planning for next season started some weeks ago and we have some prestigious pre-season friendlies already lined up.”
