MISTLEY Cricket Club hosted a successful ladies' open day.
The event was sponsored by Active Essex - one of the club's ladies' 2017 supporters.
The day was a tremendous success, with eight new ladies and girls taking part.
They all featured in a morning friendly against a mixed team of Ipswich and East Suffolk and a few Mistley ladies.
The game resulted in a draw, played in a great spirit, and all the new players had a positive first experience.
In the afternoon match, a stronger Mistley ladies' side, proudly wearing their new coloured kit sponsored by Harmonix Entertainment, took on Copdock ladies - the reigning champions of the Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship T20 League.
Mistley opened the batting with Susannah Martin and Sophie Southgate getting them off to a flying start with 17 and 18 respectively.
Mistley captain Candy Cornelius then went into bat and made an impressive 85 not out off 45 balls, hitting 14 boundaries.
Supported by a few others, the ladies made a respectable total of 166 which they managed to defend with some tight bowling in the final overs by Jemima Martin and Nikki Brown.
Mistley won by 26 runs - an impressive victory and a fantastic start to the season.
Afterwards the club extended their thanks to Active Essex, for making the day possible.
