FC CLACTON suffered late heartache after conceding an injury-time equaliser in their 1-1 draw at home to Wroxham.

Lee Clowsley’s 65th-minute goal – his second in successive games – looked to have secured three hard-earned Thurlow Nunn League points for the Seasiders.

However, goalkeeper Luke Avenell was sent off for bringing down an opponent outside the area and the resultant free-kick was hammered home to give the visitors a point.

It was a bitter pill to swallow, coming six minutes into stoppage time, and, to add insult to injury, the hosts also hit the woodwork on three occasions.

Elsewhere in the premier division, in-form BRANTHAM ATHLETIC notched a 3-2 victory at Walsham-le-Willows.

The winner came a minute from time, thanks to Sam Newson’s diving header from Michael Brothers’ cross.

Newson had put the Imps ahead just before half-time and although Walsham nosed 2-1 ahead, Adam Bloss headed an equaliser from Craig Hughes’ corner.

COGGESHALL TOWN continued their winning ways with a 2-0 victory at home to Great Yarmouth Town, thanks to George Cocklin and substitute Jamie Age.

In division one, HALSTEAD TOWN led 4-1 but ended up sharing the spoils from a thrilling 4-4 draw at Leiston Reserves.

Karl Andrade, Joe Morris, Harry Salter and Adam Hampson scored the Humbugs’ goals.

LITTLE OAKLEY bounced back from last week’s FA Vase disappointment by drawing 1-1 at home to Downham Town.

Jordan Heath was on target for the Acorns.

BRAINTREE TOWN RESERVES gained their first away victory of the season after winning 2-1 at Team Bury.
