AFTER an absence of four months, exciting Harwich Boxing Club welterweight prospect Paul Gordon made his ring return at Billericay.
He was contesting an Eastern Counties Elite Championship semi-final and up against Essex University ABC's Aaron Spenner.
The pair met in a contest over the three by three-minute round duration.
Gordon controlled the opening round with neat boxing on the retreat.
Spenner then opened the second session in more purposeful mood.
However, the Harwich boxer weathered a mini storm and soon settled back into his rhythm, scoring well with shots to the head and body.
With his confidence on the up, Gordon unleashed a ferocious salvo of unanswered shots in the closing minute of the contest to fell his opponent.
To his credit, Spenner rose and continued - only to be met by more of the same and suffer a second count and the referee's intervention in favour of the 22-year-old Harwich puncher.
Gordon now faces another Essex University boxer in Reece Wade, in the Eastern Counties final tonight.
