HARWICH and Dovercourt Golf Club held their AGM.

It was a very well-attended meeting and those present saw the election of the club's new captain.

Outgoing captain Marcus Ballard presented successor Keith Morris with his club captain’s badge.

Morris then presented Ballard with a memento from the club as a reminder of his year as captain.

The following day, Morris held his captain's drive-in competition and, with almost 100 members entering, scoring was always going to be close.

To prove this, three players scored an impressive 41 points.

Danny Turner won the day on countback from Marcus Smith and Ballard.

The best lady golfer was Sue Keen, who also won the ladies' longest drive and ladies' nearest the pin on the seventh green.

Aaron Good won the men’s nearest the pin on the fifth green and Jordan Slater won the longest drive.

Robbie Warren was closest in predicting where the captain’s drive would finish.

Other results: March Medal: 1st Dave Day 39 points, 2nd Jordan Slater 36 points, 3rd Tony Challis 33 points (OCB).

Simpson Cup (a fourball better ball stroke competition): 1st Carl Jobling and Stuart Wallace nett 67.8, 2nd Marcus Smith and Darren Eagle nett 68.0, 3rd Peter Reece and Kevin Challis nett 70.0.

Hepworth Cup (an individual stableford competition): Robbie Turner, John Oakley, Ian Powell and Gary Murphy all scored 37 points.

A play-off between these will take place later in the year to determine the winner.
