Wivenhoe Town's Thurlow Nunn League premier division season finished with a win, but the Dragons ended up sat bottom and are without a manager after the departure of boss Chris Hudson.

The Dragons concluded a difficult premier division campaign with a 3-2 victory against Newmarket Town but it wasn't enough to lift them off the foot of the table.

And in the aftermath of the final result, it was announced by the club that they had parted company with Hudson, who only took over at the GMP Plant Hire Stadium in mid-season.

A statement from the club said: "Following the conclusion of a difficult season, Wivenhoe Town can confirm that Chris Hudson has left the club.

"We would like to thank Chris for his hard work and enthusiasm during his time with us and we wish him well for the future."

The final win, though, came as Wivenhoe battled back from 2-0 down against the Jockeys, with goals from Tim Dennis and Aaron Donaldson pulling them level before Ben Gallifant got the winner from the penalty spot.

BRANTHAM ATHLETIC warmed up for Monday's Thurlow Nunn League Cup final with a 3-3 draw at Great Yarmouth Town in a game that included a stunning 35-yard free-kick by Jack Smith.

There was a home win for FC CLACTON as strikes from Billy Wales and Jake Plane put the Seasiders 2-0 up at half-time against Haverhill Borough and although the visitors got one back after the break, Clacton held on to win 2-1.

In division one, a Jamie Baker goal put HALSTEAD TOWN ahead at Swaffham Town, but the hosts came back to win 2-1 and there was a defeat by the same scoreline for HOLLAND FC at Wisbech St Marys.
