Killer's 'accomplices' bought fuel
Footage of serial killer Joanna Dennehy and her alleged accomplices buying fuel to destroy potential evidence has been shown to jurors.
The CCTV, taken at a Shell garage near Peterborough, shows the trio pulling up in a Vauxhall Astra and Ford Mondeo on the evening of last March 29 before filling up a petrol can.
Earlier that day 31-year-old Dennehy had stabbed her final two victims - John Chapman and Kevin Lee - in the heart.
Her first victim, Lukasz Slaboszewski, is thought to have been killed about 10 days earlier.
Afterwards, Dennehy stored his body in a wheelie bin before dumping it, Cambridge Crown Court has heard.
In a series of facts read to the court, jurors were told that between February 18 and 21 2012, Dennehy had been admitted to a psychiatric ward at Peterborough City Hospital.
She was diagnosed with a personality disorder and an obsessive compulsive disorder, prosecutor Andrew Jackson said.
It is not known exactly when the bodies were dumped in remote ditches in Cambridgeshire but later on March 29 the Ford Mondeo was found burnt-out on wasteland at nearby Yaxley, Mr Jackson said.
The next day Mr Lee's body was found by a farmer in a ditch near Newborough. He was wearing a black sequin dress with five "stab cuts".
A post-mortem examination found he had been covered with some kind of fuel or accelerant but there was no evidence of any attempt to set fire to his body.
The bodies of Mr Chapman and Mr Slaboszewski were found in a ditch at Thorney Dyke on April 3.
In the footage shown today, Leslie Layton, accused of helping Dennehy, is seen pulling up in the Mondeo before filling the canister.
Co-defendant Gary Stretch gets out of the Astra before paying at the counter while swigging from a water bottle.
Dennehy remains in the Astra throughout.
Dennehy, of Orton Goldhay, Peterborough, has admitted murdering Mr Slaboszewski, 31, Mr Chapman, 56, and Mr Lee, 48.
After killing the three men, Dennehy travelled to Hereford where she randomly selected and repeatedly stabbed two men in the street "for fun".
She has admitted the attempted murder of Robin Bereza and John Rogers in Hereford and preventing the lawful and decent burial of all three murder victims.
Stretch, real name Gary Richards, 47, of Riseholme, Orton Goldhay, Peterborough, has denied three charges of preventing the lawful burial of all three men and two counts of attempted murder.
Layton, 36, of Bifield, Orton Goldhay, has denied perverting the course of justice and two counts of preventing the lawful burial of the bodies of Mr Chapman and Mr Lee.
A third man, Robert Moore, 55, of Belvoir Way, Peterborough, has admitted assisting an offender and is also awaiting sentence.
The court was adjourned for the day.
