A man has been charged with making indecent images of children following an operation investigating allegations of historic sex abuse.

Anthony Fuggle, 57, of Sandy Lane, Sutton, Surrey, was charged yesterday with 11 offences of making indecent images of children and six of possessing indecent images of children, Scotland Yard said.

He was charged under Operation Winthorpe, the Metropolitan Police's investigation into allegations of historic sex abuse between the 1960s and 1980s in the Barnes area of west London.

Fuggle is on bail and will appear at Wimbledon Magistrates Court on June 20.
