Leslie Henniker

Les taught me to play the flute way back in the early eighties. I'll always have memories of playing with the Henniker Youth Band. Rest in peace Les.

Les what a lovely man. I first met Les in the Mid sixties when we both played in the grange brass band. He helped me in playing the cornet as he has helped 100's of others play brass instruments over the years.
Unfortunately, I left the band in the early Seventies but remained friends with Les and Vera. Recently, I have taken up the cornet again, Les is my inspiration, He had the sweetest tone any player would love to have. I have fond memories of playing carols with the band and Les would play descant in silent night, his favourite carol. What a lovely sound.

I first met Les, to whom I was always known as 'young Fred' when I joined the Grange Brass Band with my Father as it was forming in the 1950's. Les and Dad enjoyed a friendship that went back a great many years and Les's wonderful cornet playing and his great love of brass banding was an inspiration both to me and to all those who have had the great privilege of knowing him. In his own quiet and unassuming way Les was, and regardless of whether we use one or two words to say it, one of life's true gentlemen. To all the members of his family may I extend my very sincere and heartfelt condolences as this very sad time.
