A CAMPAIGNER has lost her latest battle in the High Court against a major scheme for Bathside Bay.
In 2006, following a public enquiry, the Secretary of State granted premission for a new container port, the construction of a small boat harbour and to demolish a listed train ferry gantry.
The scheme, put forward by Hutchison ports, was seen as a way of solving some of North Essex’s employment problems.
In February, Tendring Council agreed for the time limit on the project to be extended to 2021.
But following the decision, campaigners mounted a judicial review - this was rejected at the High Court. On Tuesday, campaigners challenged this decision but once again the judge found in favour of the council.
Tendring Council leader Peter Halliday said: “This is yet another hurdle overcome as far as we are concerned, but I think it is likely that the campaigners will continue until every possible legal process is exhausted."
