PLANS are in full swing for Dovercourt High Street’s annual Christmas light switch on.
The event, organised by the Harwich and Dovercourt Partnership, will see the street illuminated by eight rows of twinkling lights at 6pm on Friday December 6.
Helping the festivities will be a performance from Harwich Sing, members of Dovercourt Theatre Group dressing up as Queen Victoria and her ladies in waiting, stilt walkers, a magician, craft stalls and much more.
As is tradition, one lucky child will win the chance to press the button to turn on the lights and partnership chairman Lesley Pollard cannot wait for the event.
“The looks on the children’s faces when they put their tickets in to try and win the prize of turning the lights on is amazing.
“It is so much better than having some unknown celebrity come down which would cost so much money and encourages the event to have a family and community feel.”
