WORKING together is the key to why Harwich and Dovercourt schools are bucking the trend with good and outstanding ofsted results.
Ofsted’s annual report, published on Wednesday, shows Essex is near the bottom of the class when it comes to the quality of its primary schools.
Three out of ten are in special measurers or require improvement, leaving the county ranked 126th out of 150 education authorities.
But Headteacher of Harwich Community Primary Val Metcalf, said the town is performing above the norm for areas classed as deprived.
“We share good practice and meet monthly, we help each other."
Richard Hopkins, headteacher at All Saints Primary in Dovercourt, said support from the Local Authority has reduced in the past three years, but Harwich and Dovercourt schools have replaced that support by helping each other.
The report revealed 72 per cent of Essex secondary schools are either good or outstanding, up from 63 per cent. Essex ranks 91st out of 150 authorities.
