ANTARCTICA was brought to a classroom in Essex as part of a special science lesson.
Lawford Primary School pupils got the chance to participate in a live phone call to the southernmost continent to hold a question and answer session with an explorer.
The children spoke with a team member involved in 19-year-old polar explorer Parker Liautaud’s trip to Antarctica.
They were hoping to speak Parker but unfortunately he was too ill so instead got to question team member Nathan Hambrook-Skinner.
He agreed to take part in the live phone call with the pupils after meeting Year 4 pupil Connor Consgrove in November.
Donna Wenden, headteacher at Lawford Primary School, said: “They had six questions they had decided on together as a group.
“They asked him things such as have you seen a polar bear or any other animals on the expedition so far."
