A PAIR of charities have come together to form a partnership which will see oak keepsakes crafted from a historic ship build.
Residents from Acorn Village, which caters for adults with learning disabilities, visited the Mayflower Project last week, an initiative to build a replica of the pilgrim vessel of the same name.
They were given a tour of the site ahead of a new scheme which will see the boat builders donate off-cuts of oak to Acorn Village for them to create memorabilia as a therapeutic activity.
Acorn Village manager Katie Williams said: “Hopefully we will be able to make bird boxes and bat boxes in the future.
“Everyone had a great time at the visit and it was enjoyed by all.
“It is a case of charities helping charities which is a good thing.”
