A DARING duo are braving blistering heat and stinging scorpions by trekking across the Sahara Desert to help cancer victims.
Policeman Dale Plant and training manager wife Louise have spent the last three years raising cash for Macmillan Cancer Support.
They were due to take part in the 100k Sahara Desert Trek for the charity in 2011, but had to pull out after Dale injured his back.
Since then the couple and their family have raised more than £14,500 in a series of events, and earlier this year they completed 50 5km runs in as many days.
They even kept up the marathon effort while on holiday in Dubai.
Dale, 32, said: “We started fundraising for Macmillan after my grandad was diagnosed with prostate cancer and then my grandma was told she had bowel cancer.
“They both underwent treatment and have now been given the all-clear.
“But unfortunately Louise’s auntie and uncle both passed away from lung cancer within months of each other."
