A COMIC BOOK writer and best-selling author visited Harwich and Dovercourt High School to encourage students to read.
Tony Lee, who had numerous appearances on the New York Times bestsellers list with graphic novels, has also written comic books starring Spiderman, X Men and Doctor Who.
The talk, called Change The Channel, was aimed at encouraging children, especially reluctant readers, to become interested in books.
Library manager Andrew Dace said: “His message was to compare reading to television and film.
“He tried to convey if you were watching a programme you did not like you would pick another one, and the same applies to books.
“If you are reading a book about sports, for example, and you are not enjoying it then why not try a different genre like spies or pets, and not give up on reading."
