A STUNNING new batch of murals will brighten up the town when they are displayed outside the Mayflower Project.
Volunteers and students from the Harwich and Dovercourt High School have been working with art tutor Stephanie Struth to create the paintings, which will be put up close to the project base in George Street.
Chairman Tom Daly said: “Leading the team of enthusiastic volunteer artists, Stephanie has brought life to a once dark wall surrounding the project. It is great to see so many budding artists working together to capture the unique history and spirit of Harwich, it has certainly cheered the whole team at the Mayflower Project and numerous visitors also.”
The scheme – called Art of Harwich – was backed by a £7,400 grant from Tendring Council’s Big Society Fund and aims to honour the maritime and historical character of the town. More volunteers are needed to create masterpieces in January. To get involved, call 01255 318023 or e-mail training@harwichmayflower.com
