DESIGNS drawn up to turn a former factory in Harwich into homes have been described as “disappointing” by a heritage group.
Official bodies and residents have also lodged their objections to Colne Housing’s plans to build 27 homes for people on the Tendring Council housing waiting list.
The former Bernard Uniforms factory, in Main Road, which has sat unused and derelict since it closed in 2007, has been a magnet for vandals.
English Heritage, although not objecting to the plans, has questioned the design of the properties, which would be built in a conservation area.
Martin Buddery, of Colne, said: “All comments made as part of the planning consultation will be taken into consideration by the council who will make the final decision.”
