A MARITIME jobs fair is being held in Parkeston.
The fair is being organised by Jobs in Maritime, which is co-ordinating recruitment for the Thames Tideway Tunnel project, which involves the creation of a new giant sewer in London.
About 600 jobs are expected to be created, with construction anticipated to start in 2016 and last for eight years.
The fair takes place at the Energy Skill Centre at Hamilton House, in Foster Road, Parkeston, on May 28 from 10am to 4pm.
Peter Green, chief executive of Jobs in Maritime, said: “We’re committed to ensuring the Thames Tideway Tunnel creates a lasting legacy for the people of Britain and, in particular, maritime workers, creating lasting careers that continue beyond the construction of the tunnel.
“Our event at Harwich will give anyone interested in a maritime career the chance to find out all they need to know.”
