A MUM could be set to lose all her hair to raise money for research into a nerve disease that has changed her daughter’s life.
Nicky Sawyer, 49 of Witch Elm, Dovercourt, is fundraising for the Multiple Sclerosis Society after her daughter Sam Broomfield was diagnosed with the condition in 2013.
There is currently no cure for the disease and it costs £25 per hour to fund research, and many medications are used to help with symptoms like pain and numbness.
To raise money for research, Nicky has organised a fundraising evening at the Trafalgar, in Main Road, Dovercourt on August 29, when she will also be having her hair trimmed, but the length of the locks will depend on the amount of money raised.
She said: “I started off by saying ‘Can I at least have a little bit of hair left?, but now we have set targets and if we raise £1,000, then I will shave it all."
