A FOLK duo are set to break the silence with a five-night library tour.
Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin, winners of the prestigious Best Duo award at the BBC 2014 Folk Awards, and nominees again in 2016, will be performing across Essex this month.
As part of the tour, they will be hosting an exciting evening of live music at Harwich Library on June 17.
The fantastic duo have taken their unique brand of music all over the world, from Australia and Africa to Canada and Japan.
They have also performed across the UK, appearing at festivals, including Glastonbury and, in April, playing at an anniversary folk gig at the Royal Albert Hall.
The pair gather new songs and stories wherever they go, weaving inspiration from the traditional music of the British Isles with influences as diverse as Indian classical music and the blues.
Hannah is known for her original song-writing, powerful and distinctive voice and virtuosity on both fiddle and banjo.
Meanwhile, Phillip is set to impress with his mastery of the dobro, lap steel guitar, 22-string Chatturangui and show-stopping beatbox harmonica technique.
Hannah said: “We’re really looking forward to playing several special gigs in Essex libraries.
“We originally asked our mailing list and social media for ideas for unusual venues that we could come and play in.
“Libraries were such a popular suggestion – and every town has one.
“So we thought we’d do an entire tour of them.
“We hope to celebrate libraries as the wonderful community resources they are, paying tribute to them in songs full of story.
“Hopefully our range of music – from ballads to Phil’s beatbox harmonica party, which has to be seen to be believed, won’t upset too many ‘shhh!’ regulations.”
Doors open at 6.45pm with music from 7.30pm.
Drinks will be available from the Fallen Angel Brewery who have kindly agreed to support the Libraries Tour.
Tickets are available from www.wegottickets.com.
