WHIZZ kids from Manningtree put their goggles on for a day of science experiments.
Four students from Manningtree High school took part in the annual Salters Science Festival at the University of East Anglia last month.
Ally Rosson, Joe Vonk, Isobel Acfield and Isaac Setford were challenged to identify the prime suspect in a hypothetical crime by cracking codes and carrying out chemical tests.
Science teacher Raejohn Shiplee, said: “The group undertook various team tasks including testing unknown powders, paper chromatography and making foam for a fire extinguisher using the smallest quantities of chemicals.
“The day ended with a demonstration of chemical reactions with chemicals that are, mostly, found in the kitchen.”
