IT’S full steam ahead as a former railway station has been given an opening date to relaunch as a hair and beauty salon.
The Grade II listed Mistley Railway Station is set to open as The Station Hair and Beauty on March 12.
The building was built in 1854 for the Eastern Union Railway.
After sitting vacant, it was turned into an art gallery in 2007.
But after this closed it was again boarded up and sat unused until interior consultant Glynne Gerrard snapped it up.
Glynne and his partner Jess Wilson, who runs the Shed salon in Lawford, said as well as doing hair, the business will have two beauty treatment rooms upstairs.
Mr Gerrard said: “It’s having a complete revamp.
“The building is absolutely stunning and people are glad the building is going to be used as a new business as they think it is fantastic.
“We are really excited, but there is still a lot of work to do.”
