A SPECIAL civic service has been announced to mark the 50th anniversary of a history group.
Harwich Town Council has agreed to a one-off special service to celebrate the anniversary of the Harwich Society towards the end of next year.
Charlie Powell, Mayor of Harwich, said: “Everyone was pleased to support the request and to hold a civic service to mark the Harwich Society’s 50th anniversary.
“The Harwich Society has a remarkable record of service to our town and this will be a fitting tribute for all that it has achieved.”
Colin Farnell, Harwich Society chairman, said: “We hope to organise a series of events throughout 2019 to mark our 50th anniversary and a civic service will certainly be one of the highlights.”
