STUDENTS arrived in style as they celebrated the end of school with a spectacular prom at Frinton Lawn Tennis Club.

A convoy of limos and sports cars ferried the year 11 teenagers from Tendring Technology College to the party.

The girls looked glamorous in their prom dresses while the boys turned up in their sharpest suits.

And this year there were some extra special forms of transport to the bash.

Student support manager Clare Bedford said: “We even had a helicopter which brought some students, which was a first for us.”

Other pupils were chauffeured to the party in Ferraris, Maseratis, Rolls Royces and even an armoured car.

Reuben-Piers Abbarchi turned heads by driving in on a tractor after recently passing his tractor driving licence.

Mrs Bedford said: “He did well not to hit the thousands of pounds worth of cars because it’s quite a tight turning circle.”

A trio of pupils received special certificates and cinema vouchers at the event.

Ernie Wolton, Shannon Coggins and Hannah Bowden haven’t had a day off school since starting at Tendring Technology College five years ago.

Mrs Bedford said: “They have been there every day for five years without missing a single day from year seven.

“Normally you are lucky to get one pupil who has done that, so to have three is quite rare.”

As the dancing got underway, the town’s police community support officers dropped by ... to join pupils performing the Macarena.

“They have known the children for a long time so they took their hats off and joined in which was good fun,” said Mrs Bedford.

She added: “It’s a quite a formal event. The girls spend quite a lot on their prom dresses and the boys were all in their best suits.

“About 250 students came on the night and they all behaved impeccably.

“They have been an amazing year group and I wish them all the best for the future.”
