FRIENDS and family watched on as school leavers had their own red carpet moment at the Harwich and Dovercourt High School prom.

Students arrived in style at the Park Pavilion in Barrack Lane on Friday, June 29. Top transport ranged from a white horse and princess carriage to a vintage motorbike and sidecar.

Paul Day, head of Windsor Learning Community, said: “Around 1,000 family, friends and interested onlookers came to watch the arrivals.

“The students arrived in a whole host of vehicles from sports cars, antique cars, buses, motorbikes and a horse and carriage.” Prom King was Owen Brand and Prom Queen was Trudy Bbanda.

Mr Day added: “In stunning dresses and dapper suits the students all had their Hollywood moment along the extra long red carpet before spending time with loved ones in the stunning Mayor’s garden.

“In the hall, which was decorated beautifully, the students sat to eat a hot buffet, fun awards were presented and then they danced the night away.

“Special mention must go to joint organiser Mrs Yvette Tabb as this was her 14th and final prom.

“Thanks to the local community for helping us make this such a smoothly run event.”
