SPIRITS were not dampened, despite heavy rainfall forcing Harwich’s biggest wrestling event to change venues last minute.

The Wrestling League hosted a day of wrestling matches, stalls, music and dancing at the Kingsway Hall on Sunday.

The spectacle was set to be held at the Harwich and Parkeston Football Club pitch in Main Road, but due to the heavy rain the organiser had to change venues.

A total of 300 wrestling fans came to the show to see a range of matches over the event with both homegrown heroes and international stars.

The big event of the night was a battle between homegrown star Harry Mant and British champion James Castle.

Organiser Mark Young said: “I was just so lucky we had a great venue as backup so we could deliver the advertised full show.”

Other matches included Angélico vs El Phantasmo, Sugar Dunkerton and Sadie Gibbs vs The Banker Marc Lloyd and A-Kid vs Charlie May, as well as the grudge match between Nick Payne and Slick Lombardo.
