A main road in Braintree has been closed today for urgent cable repair work.
London Road has closed while UK Power Network repairs an overhead cable.
The road is closed from the junction with Clare Road for 75m.
Vehicles are banned from making a right hand turn from Clare Road into London Road for the duration of the closure.
A spokesman for UK Power Network said: "UK Power Networks engineers are working as quickly and safely as possible on London Road, Braintree for essential repair work on an overhead cable.
"For safety reasons, the road is closed for today only.
"We appreciate the impact this is having and apologise for the inconvenience caused."
The public notice says an alternative route is available via London Road, Roseval Roundabout, Link Under Braintree Bypass, King William Roundabout, Notley Cross, Garden Village Way, Panners Roundabout, Pods Brook Road, Springwood Roundabout, Rayne Road, Pierrefitte Way and vice versa.
