As a resident of Great Notley I have recently become aware of a high level of class A drug deals taking place locally.

I stood outside Tesco one early evening last week and saw dealers transacting openly and without fear of being caught.

I subsequently followed a dealer to see them again transacting with teenagers locally.

Since this time I have witnessed drug dealers operating openly around the green and footpaths of Notley and have found out that it is largely Cocaine being dealt.

I have reported the names and addresses of these dealers, including some operating from town centre locations and a popular town centre pub to the police a number of times and the police simply say they will add the details to intelligence.

I have even been able to give the police details of people in possession of class A drugs at the time for them to intercept them but again, the police simply say they can’t do anything apart from add it to intelligence.

At night, Great Notley is riddled with drugs and drug dealers.

Residents and teenagers locally know who they are.

Given the impact on individuals and communities, I wonder when the dealing and possession of class A drugs became no longer a police emergency or something they would even action.

I accept the police are stretched but do we now reside in an estate where even the most serious of crimes are not worthy of action?

Unless urgent action is taken, there will be a knock on crime spree and/or deaths of local teenagers from overdose. Meanwhile the police add urgent cases simply to intelligence.
