Care homes are celebrating after being shortlisted for 12 national and regional awards.

The New Deanery and St Mary’s Court, in Braintree, are now finalists at the National Care Awards and The Great British Care Awards.

The two homes, run by Sonnet Care Homes, hope to beat last year’s success where they won three awards at The Great British Care Awards, including being judged Care Employer of the Year for the second year.

Julia Clinton, CEO of Sonnet Care Homes, said: “We know how high the standard is for these prestigious competitions, so we could not be prouder of the whole Sonnet team.

"It is an incredible achievement and real testament to their hard work and dedication.

“It confirms our residents care and support is being provided by a really fabulous team of people.”

Both awards were designed to celebrate the best in the long-term care sector, highlighting excellent performance and paying tribute to those who are outstanding in their work.

Judging for the East of England Great British Care Awards will take place on October 15, with awards being presented on 15 November.

Judging for the National Care Awards takes place on October 12, with the winners being presented with their trophies by actor and presenter James Nesbitt at the Gala Night on November 30.
