HAIRBRUSH singers and couch comedians are being urged to step up and show their skills at Harwich's own talent show.

Parkeston Railway Club is running the event on October 13 as part of a bid to save the struggling club and encourage more people through the doors.

Katie Baalham, treasurer, came up with the idea, which she hopes will be an exciting family night out.

She said: "We are working really hard to pull the club u and get people coming in.

"We were having some financial difficulties so are trying to get the club back on its feet.

"We've had an Hawaiian night and pirates of the Caribbean night, which were great nights.

"With summer gone and it now being the run-up to Christmas it is a dull period in-between so this is something to get families and everybody involved in."

Acts of all kinds are invited to apply, from musicians to magicians.

Katie added: "I like to think we have some talent in the area, we just need to find them.

"The more variety the better. "We've got a few singers already interested - including a father and son rap act.

"It's going to be a really good night and I'd like the audience to be the ones to judge and choose the winner."

Harwich Has Talent will be at Parkeston Railway Club in Hamilton Street on October 13 at 7pm.

Entry to the competition is £3, audience members are free, and entry forms are available behind the bar or on the website at parkestonrailwayclub.xhostuk.com
