A High Street shop has closed after enforcement agents repossessed the property.
K&I Enforcement Ltd took control of 64 shop in Braintree on Thursday, citing The Taking Control of Goods Regulations.
The company is listed as a debt recovery and certificated enforcement service.
A notice stuck to the shop door said: "Landlords B&K Thomas (1990) Pension Scheme of the property known as 64 High Street peaceably re-entered and taken possession of the premises to secure Controlled Goods."
The notice also says the action is not a forfeiture of lease.
If the tenant re-enters the property without permission from the landlord they may face prosecution.
A spokesman for 64 said: "We are in dialogue with the landlord and hope to continue trading in the town as soon as possible."
