I went to the Remembrance parade in Halstead and remembered first my father being at the unveiling of the memorial in St Andrews churchyard as a choir boy.
I also thought of my father and his brothers and sisters and all who served king and country.
I was a little saddened that two PCSOs could not be deployed to stop the traffic for the two minutes’ silence, especially for those who stood opposite near the Head Street estate agents, and perhaps a band or piper could have led the procession up the high street.
I would like to make it clear I am grateful for all who served and are serving today.
