STUDENTS decorated their school with poppies and messages of respect to mark the end of the First World War.

Harwich and Dovercourt High School’s students and staff said they were honoured to remember the town’s heroes who gave up so much during the war.

The students decorated the main outside area of the school with poppies and messages remembering the fallen heroes of the war.

Some students were then accompanied headteacher Kate Finch to Dovercourt War Memorial to lay a wreath.

Mrs Finch said: “It was extremely important to us all that we mark the 100th year anniversary with our two minute silence across the school and displays that encourage all students, staff and visitors to contemplate the unselfish acts of those around us and how the spirit of living unselfishly is so important for us all in Harwich.

“I am proud of how the students responded to the displays and the thoughts they expressed.”
