A DOUBLE decker bus has permanently pulled up outside a school to be converted into a library.

Hedingham has given Mayflower Primary School a bus which will be transformed into a library and learning space for pupils.

Earlier this year the school put out a plea for the donation of a bus which can be converted into a library as the building did not have enough designated space for one.

Hedingham responded straight away and offered the school a double decker bus.

Elizabeth Bartholomew, headteacher, said: "We can’t thank them enough.

"Hopefully, with the help of local tradespeople and businesses, we can convert this into a valuable space for our children.

She added: “It is going to be such a wonderful addition to our school and will make a massive difference to our children’s experience here at Mayflower.”

Once the library is complete there will be a wide range of books as well as seating areas for pupils to sit down and read.

The school is now appealing locally for help and support to convert the bus.

She added: "We need support in getting power to it, in designing the interior and exterior, in furnishing and carpeting, heating and lighting, and an outside shaded area."
