A HOST of issues ranging from dog fouling to gangs were addressed as part of a street action day in Parkeston.
Officers and staff from a number of agencies took part in the initiative organised by Tendring Community Safety Partnership.
Among those to take part were Tendring Council, Essex Police, CVST Harwich, One Support, the Illegal Money Lending Team, Essex Police Active Citizens, ACE Lifestyles, Crimestoppers and local councillors.
During the event, held on Thursday, November 22, partners knocked on doors around the village and spoke to passers-by about issues affecting them.
They were then able to give advice, signpost them to relevant organisations, or collect intelligence to pass on to the police.
Among the issues raised by residents were speeding, dog fouling, drugs, gangs, and activities for young people in the area.
Lynda McWilliams, chairman of the Tendring Community Safety Partnership, said the day was an example of the community coming together for good.
She said:“These Street Action Days demonstrate what a range of things we can tackle if we do so together.
“Many of these are complex issues that require more than one agency to address, but working together also allows us to reach more people in one go.
“There was a great turnout for the Parkeston street action day, and the vast majority of the community were very welcoming when the team knocked on doors. It is also great to hear how well the team were also able to interact with passers-by too.”
