A HOLIDAY park wants permission to create up to 85 static caravans on its premises.

Colchester Holiday Park, in Cymbeline Way, has applied for planning permission which would allow it to have up to 85 of the caravans on what is currently open space and a storage yard.

An application for 30 static caravans was approved by planners earlier this year, however business bosses say the new application will "simplify planning matters" and allow them to provide a better mix of accommodation for holidaymakers.

A spokesman for Colchester Holiday Park said: "We are intending to reorganise part of the existing park, mainly to allow the caravan storage area to be used to provide for a better road layout with more static caravans and additional planting.

"The remainder of the park outside of the current site would continue to operate as the touring caravan area."

The spokesman added: "There will be no increase in caravan numbers but driving up the quality and range of visitor accommodation available will help secure the future of the business and the benefits it brings to the local economy."
