MUSICIANS across Tendring and Colchester have come together to create a one-of-a-kind album.

Teacher Graham McAndrew, from Wivenhoe, came up with the idea to create a postcode album along with friend and colleague, Paul Woodward.

The CD, called the CO Project, showcases musical talent from the CO1 to CO16 postcodes.

Graham said: “We have always had the idea of creating an album featuring the best of people from this vicinity.

“We finalised plans in July and it’s something which has never been done before.

“It’s not a money-making venture.

“We had all the artwork done for free and all the sound engineering was free.”

A total of 150 CDs were made at the bargain price of £283.

And Graham said the quality is “wonderful”.

“I have been in the music business since I was about 20,” he added.

“I had a charity record label called HaHa Records when I was living up north.

“I have been in a band called the Mighty Resonators for 23 years and have played 300 gigs in that time, so I have got to know people from the area who wanted to contribute freely to the album.”

The CD features music of all genres.

It has already been played in full on Colne Radio is being sold in 15 pubs across the CO postcode area for £6 each and money from sales will go towards production and making CO logo T-shirts.

Graham said: “Ethically I wanted this to benefit the area.

“It’s not about us wanting to be megastars.

“It features artists from Clacton, Colchester and Wivenhoe and it’s all original.”
