DOZENS of people attended a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the relaunch of a pharmacy in Dovercourt.

About 50 residents, including Harwich mayor Charlie Powell and mayoress Kate Powell, went to Oakley Pharmacy’s reopening event on Monday.

The refurbished pharmacy, in Oakley Road, now has a spacious shop and private consultation rooms to ease the pressure on GPs.

Ivy Tuffour, who owns the pharmacy with her husband Ben, said: “We are proud to be a part of the community and look forward to offering our service long into the future.

“As a pledge to the community, we have made an annual commitment to support the Mayoress Appeal which raises funds for local charities.”

A total of £217 was raised at the relaunch through a raffle, tombola and donations from the public.

All of the proceeds will be going to Age Concern Harwich and Home Start Harwich.
