A spokesman for the group said: “During this past year our partnership association has taken a big step forward.

“We now have a clear and agreed plan of how, over the next two years, we will celebrate 50 years of partnership with the town of Frankenberg/Eder in Germany, starting with a visit to Frankenberg in October next year.”

Mary Dunk, chairman of the Essex and Suffolk Joint Twinning Congress will be at the meeting.

She added: “We look forward to welcoming anyone who is interested in finding out more about our association and our commitment to maintain and develop links with people in this lovely area of Germany. “We would particularly like to hear from anyone who has taken part in any of the visits to and from Frankenberg during the past 50 years.”
