YOUNGSTERS had pan-flipping-tastic day for Shrove Tuesday.

Reception pupils from Spring Meadow Primary School, in Dovercourt, spent Tuesday day making pancakes and competing in a pancake relay.

More than 50 students from the school's two reception classes enjoyed learning how to make pancakes with their teachers Amy Raymond and Laura Dare.

Miss Raymond said: "The children took part in a relay pancake race and they had lots of fun.

"We taught them how to make pancakes and they got lots of enjoyment out of that."

The school celebrates Shrove Tuesday every year with its reception students.

Miss Raymond added: "It's usually a hit with the children and they get quite a lot out of it by learning skills out of the norm.

"Overall it was a fun, messy day for the students."
