VOLUNTARY and community groups are celebrating after securing a share of more than £7,000 in grant funding.
The 11 projects, which are located across Colchester and Tendring, will share a total of £7,109 in cash thanks to Grassroots Charity, which has been distributing funding to worthy causes in the north Essex area for decades.
North Essex Lymphoedema Support Group has been awarded £500 to continue the organisation’s work in the area.
History organisation Clacton Victoria County History Group has been boosted by a donation of £250; Tendring Specialist Stroke Services will get £1,000; and Harwich Arts and Heritage Centre, in Main Road, will be given £770.
Charities Lads Needs Dads, the Child First Charitable Trust and Carers First will receive £464, £945 and £200 respectively.
Sue Hawes, director of Grassroots, said: “We are extremely pleased to be able to help our local voluntary organisations which work so hard to improve people’s lives.”
