I READ the letters from Jamie Legg (Times, March 7) regarding the grey haired "do-gooders" monitoring motorists' speeding through Shalford and would agree the majority of those participating in this enterprise tend to be from the more elderly members of our communities.

Obviously Mr Legg, whose hair colour is not disclosed is of a younger generation with the alarming philosophy that he knows better and openly admits to speeding up as a response to their efforts to keep traffic travelling within the permitted speed limits. What a moron!

It is a real shame it wasn’t the police doing the monitoring.

They have enough on their plates as it is and it is plainly not a priority in these days of funding cuts with increased violence and other heinous crimes being committed within our communities.

What is most astonishing is that he has bothered to put pen to paper to view his narrow, bigoted and irresponsible views.

Who loaned you the pen Mr Legg and did they help with the big words?

I would like to inform Mr Legg that, indeed I am naturally grey haired (unlike many of those of the younger and fairer generation who spend a fortune dying theirs to look like mine), and like to think I live, on the whole, in a country of fair minded and responsible citizens (Mr Legg excluded).

I do not participate in traffic watching, although I am constantly alarmed by the amount and speed of motor vehicles using thoroughfares open for access only, such as High Street and Panfield Lane in Braintree.

Grow up Mr Legg.
