A HEADTEACHER says her school is striving to be even better after inspectors rated it as 'good' across the board.

Vicky Jackson, from St Francis Catholic Primary School in Braintree, put down the impressive results to a huge amount of hard work by pupils and staff.

At its previous inspection in 2016 it was told it 'required improvement' but the latest report rates the school as 'good' in every area except personal development, behaviour and welfare where it is 'outstanding'.

Mrs Jackson said: "It's been three years of incredible hard work by staff, the board, parents and pupils and we're really pleased with the outcome.

"But we always want to be better and want to keep on improving so we're going to be carrying on with taking the school in this new direction.

"The report says the attitude of the children is really good and that's certainly something that we see on a day-to-day basis."

The report found Mrs Jackson leads with 'energy and purpose' while staff have 'instilled a love of learning' in pupils.

Academically, inspectors said pupils - including disadvantaged pupils and those with special educational needs or disabilities - are making good progress.

However, inspectors did say those who have grasped ideas should be moved on quicker and the roles of subject leaders other than in English and maths need to be developed.
