A HIGH street will be closed all this week for emergency electrical repairs.

Leigh High Street has been closed off by Southend Council from March 23, with the closure set to remain in place for the full week until this Saturday.

This means no vehicle can enter or exit the high street from its junction with Belton Bridge to its junction with Two Tree Island, with the exception of the emergency services.

A diversion route has been put in place, with resident access still allowed where possible.

The work is being carried out by UK Power Networks to repair to a low voltage mains cable under the high street, the damage to which has been affecting customers near the High Street.

Commuters are advised to allow extra time for journeys when travelling near the area.
